BUILD THE FIRE AND SHAKE OFF THE SNAKE
Paul
was one of the most anointed apostles in the New Testament. After his
conversion he spoke of salvation in Jesus Christ not only in persuasive
words but in demonstration of the Spirit and power. He endured many
trials but throughout his ministry people were healed just by stepping
into his shadow and the dead were even raised. Kerchiefs and aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and diseases and evil spirits left them. In
Acts chapter 28 when Paul and his team went to Malta, the natives
accepted them and showed them unusual kindness. It was cold and raining
as Paul gathered up some sticks to help build a fire. A viper came out
of the fire and fastened itself to Paul's hand but Paul shook the snake
back into the fire and was not harmed. The natives first thought that he
was a murderer but then when they saw that he didn't swell up and die,
they thought he was a god.
As some of you are beginning to build a fire, there are hidden snakes that are trying to attach themselves on you. You may have even had a snake fasten itself to you but you shook it off. This is going to be used as a major testimony to set others free. You may have a snake bite but the scar is going to be a sign and a wonder to many people. The snake attacked Paul in his hand which was anointed for his ministry to bring salvation to the lost and release miracles, signs and wonders.
Just
as the men and women of Malta witnessed this miracle with Paul, others
are going to show you kindness and marvel at your amazing testimony.
They will see that you may have gotten bit but you didn't die. As the
serpent attacked you, you have learned to shake it off. You have not
allowed anything to catch you off guard, and you didn't lose your focus.
Continue to resist ungodly and vain imaginations of doubt and fear and
shake off the viper before it releases its venom. Just as Paul shook off
the snake before it brought death to him, you too must shake off that
serpent that tries to attach itself to you to steal, kill and destroy.
Acts 28: 3-5
But
when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a
viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand. So when
the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one
another, "No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped
the sea, yet justice does not allow to live." But he shook off the
creature into the fire and suffered no harm.
1 Corinthians 2:2-4
For
I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him
crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling.
And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human
wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith
should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
