DESPERATE FOR A TOUCH FROM GOD
Back
in 1978 when I had my first bout with cancer, my friend’s sister told
me about a priest named Father Diorio who had a miracle ministry. She
invited me to a Catholic Charismatic church where this priest was having
a meeting. Being raised Catholic I was never taught about the gifts of
the Holy Spirit such as healing and miracles but but I knew that there
was a supernatural realm so I was willing to go. The room was packed
with people and an unusual presence permeated the atmosphere. I made my
way to the front and pressed in as close as I could to the altar. I
didn’t know what to expect but I watched him closely as he ministered.
God could use anyone who is submitted to Him.
He began speaking about salvation, the love of Jesus, and how Jesus
died for our sickness and sin. There was a young paraplegic man in his
teens who began screaming from the back of the sanctuary. Father Diorio
said “Bring the boy to me”. They laid him down on the altar and he
placed his hands over his chest. After about five minutes this young man
became silent. They put him back into his wheelchair and brought him to
the back of the room. This got my attention. Father Dioreo began
walking around the room with an aspergillum sprinkling water on the
people. I pressed in believing that I would receive a miracle if one
drop of that water touched me.
The
Lord is looking for people who are desperate for Him. There are some of
you who are like Elisha who slaughtered his yolk of oxen, burned his
plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people to eat,
then set out to follow Elijah. The Lord says: I will honor your
sacrifice. For those of you who are like Jacob who wrestled with
the angel and said “I won’t let you go until you bless me”. The Lord
says to you: Your perseverance will be rewarded.
There are some of you like Zacchaeus who climbed a Sycamore tree
just to see Jesus walk by. The Lord says to you, I will come to your
house to visit you today. For those of you women who are like the woman
who desperately pushed through the crowd to touch Jesus cloak, the Lord
says to you; your faith has made you whole.
There are those of you like the men who brought a paraplegic to
Jesus. The crowds were so large that they couldn’t get in the room where
He was staying. They tore off the roof and lowered the man down on a
stretcher. Jesus said “your sins are forgiven and the man was healed.
The Lord says to those of you who continually bring your family before
Him in intercession, your prayers have been heard on high. I will heal
them and forgive their sins.
For those of you who said “Lord we have left everything to follow
You”, The Lord says to you (just as He said to Peter) For anyone who has
left behind their home and property, leaving family, brothers or
sisters, mothers or fathers, or children for my sake, they will be
repaid a hundred times over and will inherit eternal life. But many who
push themselves to be first will find themselves last. And those who are
willing to be last will find themselves to be first.”
Jesus is a rewarder for those who diligently seek Him and He is
searching for those who are desperate for Him. For those of you who are
hungering for righteous, "You shall be filled” says the Lord.
1 Kings 19:21
So Elisha left him and went
back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the
plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they
ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.
Matthew 19:29
And everyone who has left
houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother [h]or wife or children
or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit
eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first.
Mark 2:1-5
And again He entered Capernaum
after some days, and it was heard that He was in the house. Immediately
many gathered together, so that there was no longer room to receive
them, not even near the door. And He preached the word to them. Then
they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. And
when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered
the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down
the bed on which the paralytic was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, He
said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”
