Direction not Destruction
Rain, rain, go away, go and come another day, little children want to play…
As you are thinking about the continuation of this basic rhyme you learnt in kindergarten, am sure it has never crossed your mind whether you can ever forget the lines of this simple rhyme. This is because you have done it for a long time and as you grow it becomes much easier reciting it.
And I believe as a child, there were lots of things you learnt that you still remember. May be from books, correction from parents and some stories from friends you still have with you. Some of these experiences may sometimes not be a major changer but it is something you can relate to or just remember to smile, frown or flip away due to your assessment now.

CHILDREN are also part of our society and I believe you saw and heard a lot of things as a child. As we see men and women as stake holders in the society, we must know children also play a vital role in the formation of a good and harmonious community. Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it”. This implies that as parents, uncles, aunties and all members of a family, we all have a role to play in the good upbringing and right development of children in our various homes and the society as a whole. One integral part of the society which is ignored and and left without we making any effort to elevate is CHILD CARE. We must first of all be the example of what we want to teach the young generation. You cannot teach without having a manual or any material to serve as a means of reference to the learner. As teachers use syllabus, and film makers use scripts we must also be examples of what we are teaching the children.
So it is not how loud you shout or hard the punishment is but how clear you demonstrate to them what true living is supposed to be. And the question is, how is it supposed to be? You first look at God and how He deals with children. He doesn’t teach out of hurt but He directs out of love. And love is not how you try to define it but allow God who is love to help you do it.
