A CANARY IN A COAL MINE


There is an old story about “A Canary in a Coal mine” which originated from mining history. It is said that the coal miners would bring caged canaries into mines with them. If dangerous toxic gases such as carbon monoxide were in the mine, the canaries would get sick or even die before it affected the miners. As the miners were alerted they were able to put on protective respirators or escape unharmed.

The canary in a Coal mine has become a metaphor in our day referring to someone who is sensitive to their surroundings. They are sensitive to any warnings of danger. The Lord is showing me that He is developing your gift of discernment. You will begin to be sensitive to the spiritual atmospheres around you. You will begin to discern the enigmas and the images that the Holy Spirit shows you. Your thoughts will begin to line up with His word.

He wants to communicate with you through all your senses. Your spiritual senses will become sharper depending on what you are focusing on. As you allow Jesus word to become a part of you, your mind will be renewed. You will no longer desire to submit to the things of the carnal nature and the temptations of this world will grow dim. As you hunger for spiritual realities, you will find that hearing His voice will come with ease.

You have been created in the image of God so begin by speaking the word of God. Put the word before your eyes, in your heart and in your mind. He wants us to learn to recognize His voice through our thoughts from a renewed mind. You have the mind of Christ and hold the thoughts, feelings and purposes of His heart. You will become sensitive to His voice, know what He wants to do and say, and perceive the spiritual atmosphere around you.

There is power in the spoken word. As you speak the Word of God you will not be speaking religious repetitive words but decreeing and declaring His will, purpose and plans. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
He will show you how to use your tongue for blessing rather than cursing.

He also wants to speak to you in dreams. As you begin to remove anything that desensitizes you from hearing His voice, your dreams will become more vivid. You will discern between His voice, your own mind or the devil. You will learn how to tune in just as a GPS and know your destination as well as your direction. You will always go in the direction of your most dominant thought in the same way that a GPS guides you to the right road. Don’t fear the supernatural realm but as sons and daughters of God, be led by the Spirit and not the flesh.


Hebrews 5:14
But solid food belongs to those who are [c]of full age, that is, those who by reason of [d]use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

1 Corinthians 2:14-15
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.

Romans 8:5-8
For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be [a]carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

   October 16, 2014 Walking In Demonstration of the Spirit and of Power In the First book of Corinthians Chapter two, Paul told the Corinthian church that he did not come with eloquence of speech or carnal persuasiveness, but with the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. Paul did not speak mere words of man, but he ministered in demonstration with miracles, signs and wonders following. When Paul prayed for people they were healed, set free, delivered, and even the dead were raised. He told the people that their faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. “The Desert Places and The Resting Places Encounter – January 16, 2019”

                          As I lay down to rest, the Lord came and invited me to follow him. In the vision, I get up and follow him and find myself walking in a vast hot desert. All around us are sand dunes as far as I could see. The wind was hot and was blowing sand on us as we went. My feet were struggling to keep up with the Lord as He purposefully trudged forwards to His destination. I pressed harder in the soft sand and said, “Lord, where are we going?” The Lord just kept walking. After awhile, the Lord slowed down and I saw that we came to a place where there was an old well in a cleft among the dunes. It was ancient, well used, and it had old dry clay built up all around the sides.
